Privacy Policy
Effective date: 21 March 2025 | Last updated: 21 March 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how MangaComicke (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website at mangacomicke.com and related services, including browsing the catalog, placing orders, requesting custom orders, creating an account or signing in, and using seller tools where available.
By using our services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Use of the Services is also governed by our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
MangaComicke operates an online store for manga, manhwa, comics, and light novels. We are based in Nairobi, Kenya. For privacy-related requests, contact us through the customer channels you use on this site (for example, order or custom-order correspondence) or the contact details we provide to you during support.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use MangaComicke, we may process:
- Account and sign-in data: When you sign in with Google, we receive identifiers and profile details that Google shares with us (such as name, email address, and profile image) as permitted by your Google account settings and Google’s policies.
- Order and communications data: Information you submit when you check out, request a custom order, or contact us (such as name, email, phone number if provided, delivery or pickup details, and the content of your messages).
- Device and technical data: Such as IP address, browser type, general location derived from IP, pages viewed, and timestamps. This may come from our hosting, APIs, or analytics or advertising tools if enabled.
- Data stored on your device: We use browser local storage (and similar technologies) to remember your cart, wishlist, product cache, sign-in state, and site preferences. This data stays on your device unless we also receive it through a form, API, or sign-in flow as described above.
- Seller program data: If you apply or operate as a seller, we process the information you submit and data needed to operate listings, payouts, and compliance (including authentication data processed through our seller sign-in providers).
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the website and services;
- Process orders, respond to inquiries, and send transactional messages;
- Authenticate users and prevent fraud or abuse;
- Analyze usage in aggregate to improve performance and experience;
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our terms;
- Run advertising or measurement if we use those tools (see below).
Where required by applicable law (including Kenya’s data protection framework), we rely on appropriate legal bases such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent where required, or legal obligation.
4. Sharing with service providers
We use trusted third parties to host and operate the site. Categories of providers may include:
- Google (Sign-In / Identity Services): Authentication and account-related processing. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase: Used for seller authentication and related backend services where applicable. See Firebase Privacy Information.
- Email delivery (EmailJS or similar): To send notifications or messages you trigger through forms or orders. Data handled according to the provider’s terms and privacy notice.
- Hosting and application infrastructure: For example, services that host our frontend or API (such as Netlify, Railway, or comparable providers) process requests and may log technical data.
- Content delivery and images: Product media may be delivered through CDNs or image services (for example Cloudinary). Those services may process requests and technical metadata.
We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense of selling lists of personal data for money. We may share data with partners as needed to run the services described in this policy.
5. Meta (Facebook) technologies and advertising
If we use Meta business tools (such as the Meta Pixel, Conversions API, or Meta advertising), Meta may collect or receive identifiers, device data, and activity on our site as described in Meta’s documentation. We use such tools only as permitted by law and Meta’s terms.
For how Meta uses data, see Meta Privacy Policy and Meta Data Policy. You can adjust ad preferences and learn about choices in Meta’s Help Center. Where required, we will obtain consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are used.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and related technologies for essential site function, preferences, performance, and—if enabled—analytics or advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may limit features (for example cart or sign-in persistence).
7. Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, or dispute requirements. Local storage on your device remains until you clear site data or we overwrite it.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in Kenya and other countries. Where data is transferred across borders, we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information, or to object or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact us as described in section 1. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority where applicable.
11. Children
Our services are not directed to children under the age where parental consent is required for online services in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the site or other reasonable means.
13. Third-party links
Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
